Dr. Hackl went on to graduate from medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2002.

During his second year of medical school is when he decided that he wanted to do pain management. He went on to complete his Anesthesia Residency in Lubbock, Texas, and an additional year in pain fellowship under Gábor Rácz, M.D. at Texas Tech University. Dr. Hackl says Dr. Rácz’s mentorship was instrumental in developing his skills as a pain management physician. Dr. Rácz is world known for his cutting-edge work with chronic back pain and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

After his fellowship, Dr. Hackl wasn’t sure where he wanted to practice. He has always been drawn to this area of the country because “people in the Midwest are the nicest”. One of his fellow colleagues went to school at Oral Roberts University and introduced Dr. Hackl to Tulsa. In 2007, he relocated from Texas to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has enjoyed living in Tulsa. His favorite thing about Tulsa is that it is a good balance of small town charm with the amenities of a larger city. 

In 2015, Dr. Hackl and his business partner, Cannen Ferrell, started their own pain management clinic, Access Pain Solutions. The two started their partnership because they shared a goal and vision. At Access Pain Solutions the goal is to provide quality care without month long wait times for patients to get in.

As an interventional pain management specialist, Dr. Hackl provides a wide variety of modern pain management modalities and is trained in all aspects of pain medicine including medical and interventional therapies. Dr. Hackl’s goal in treating patients is to relieve pain through interventional therapy and to minimize the use of medications as much as possible. His passion is giving his patients their quality of life back by helping them move and be more functional despite their chronic pain. He prides himself on the fact that he takes prescribing pain medications very seriously. Dr. Hackl knows there is a delicate balance between medication helping or harming a patient. For this reason Dr. Hackl also offers Buprenorphine treatment, also known as Suboxone therapy, to his patients here in the Tulsa area.

The clinic strives to put patient care first and provide quality interventional pain management while protecting our community from abuse and diversion from dangerous medications. Buprenorphine treatment helps patients who are struggling with substance abuse and addiction. Dr. Hackl takes addiction very seriously at Access Pain Solutions in Tulsa. We understand that oral medications are at the heart of the opioid epidemic happening in our communities. For this reason, he obtained certification for addiction medicine. His extensive training as a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Suboxone provider allows him to provide medication assisted therapy to those seeking addiction treatment.
